Ă–zil and Marin Give Bremen Fans a Taste of What’s to Come

By: Jan | June 16th, 2009

On the left: Werder Bremen’s youngster and designated Diego replacement Mesut Ă–zil.
On the right: Mönchengladbach’s youngster and designated new Werder Bremen signing Marko Marin.
In the middle: a ball, put there for a free kick to Germany’s U21 at the Euros in Sweden.

Three ingredients to make something special happen are in place…

…and something special happened.

How come I missed that when I was watching the match?! Anyways, adorable. :)

And Jan, for some reason when I want to play the video you posted, it pops up in another window. Just saying.

Is the Marin transfer official? I hadn’t caught up with that . . .

@Diana: strange, the video isn’t popping in any way here, just plays back as expected.

@Chris: Bremen and Gladbach are arguing back and forth about the transfer fee. Marin said that he wants to join Bremen shortly before the U21 tournament kicked off, so he has clearly positioned himself.

Oh. Or maybe I am on Mozilla Firefox and the software I am using is Microsoft Vista, because when I wanted to play the video, I wondered why it was not playing. Until I realised another window had been popped up.

    Jan,
I need this Marin deal done now for my transfer pool. If it’s done by tomorrow, I get full points :)

Get stuck in and help them hammer it out :)

That nice combination aside, how long can Werder hold onto Ă–zil and Marin?

If Bremen can’t talk Ă–zil into a contract extension then it’ll be only one season – or they decide against cashing in and keep him for two.

Well either way I hope Özil and Marin have a great season and combine well. It will give Löw a lot to think about for 2010.

Same goes for Gomez and Klose at Bayern – though now they have 3 competent strikers and Toni. If Goemz and Klose start often it could be a big boon for Germany.

Nick, Bayern need to offload Toni ASAP. Who the heck is going to look at Klose, Olic, Gomez, and Toni, and put two on the bench? What a headache.

Toni’s agent said yesterday that he’s staying put. This is one of those “good” problems. You know Klose is going to be injured for a quarter of the season, so depth helps. I figure we’ll see a lot of 60th minute sub-outs for Toni.
