I had checked the timing of the kick-off and realised, when the DFB-Pokal final is happening, just imagine...I might be sleeping through it given I don't know if I will stream it as it will happen on early Sunday morning here. Yikes. :( I had read somewhere that the final will also be shown in like 149 countries (I may be wrong with my figures). Such mentions like this made me real pissed. When in the bloody world (sorry for that, given I am that fed-up) will Singapore be part of this, or how about having the Bundesliga here in the beginning? I want to be optimistic but I have the funny feeling that it will not be on here for the following season. I just hope (if by luck, we will get it here too and I need not rant every now and then on my own blog) it will not turn out like Spanish football coverage on the pay-TV where there's no Copa Del Rey (King's Cup) coverage. Not even showing the final (but strangely I get to watch the highlights on news bulletins earlier this week). Only regular Spanish domestic football coverage. Tough being a Bundesliga fan here... :( This is the reason why I hate time differences. He is a phrasemonger and both his players and the press seem to have noticed that by now and don't believe what he says anymore. On the other hand, I would like to see a great cup final, like last year, and that won't be the case with Bayern scoring four goals in the first twenty minutes. Amusing. ;) I was like thinking recently...it's ironic it was in Germany where Toni won the World Cup with Italy and now he's at Bayern. And already he's a hit with the fans though it's only his first season with the club. Just imagine it was almost two years ago, it was Italy who broke Germany's chances of reaching the World Cup final on home soil. And to think back then I was real pissed they knocked Germany out of the World Cup. I don't know what to say now with Toni at Bayern... ;) Luke, this reminds me. In this case, the title is Bayern for the taking but looking at what bundesliga.de is saying, eh... Excepting the 1984 cup final (which went to Bayern 7-6 on penalties) no team has ever scored more than 5 goals in a cup final. Of those matches, only one went 5-0. Amazingly, the team to achieve that most dominant of cup final victories was Schalke, who defeated Kaiserslautern by that count in 1972. Dortmund can't possibly play any worse than last Saturday can they? Therefore, their likely defeat probably won't set any historical marks. Then again, with Mark Ziegler doubtful for Dortmund, they may have to start 20 year old Marcel Höttecke in goal. If things get very ugly for young Mr. Höttecke, keep the scoreline 17:0 in mind; that was the worst defeat ever suffered in a cup match, by the well-known VfB 05 Knielingen at the feet of Stuttgarter Kickers in 1941.
