Weekly Dose 05.03.09

By: Jan | March 5th, 2009
  • Last week’s look at the family affairs behind adidas and Puma was just to warm you up. This week we learn how the two brothers briefly build a three stripes Nazi bazooka, ironically almost got blown to pieces by an Allied tank and then supplied the US army with basketball and baseball shoes. (Spiegel Online)
  • Ultras are so far voluntarily not using bazookas, but they still want their illegal fireworks. (Bundesliga Talk)
  • BILD are desperately rolling out cheap new wags each week. When will the van der Vaarts show pity for a mass circulating tabloid and return to the Bundesliga? (BILD)
  • Deutsche Welle get something BILD failed to get for years: an interview from Borussia Mönchengladbach’s coach Hans Meyer. Not a good week to be a tabloid. (DW Bundesliga Kick Off!MP4VOD)
  • Raphael Honigstein gives Wolfsburg their 15 minutes of fame. (Guardian Sportblog)
  • It will be squeaky burn time in the Bundesliga soon; and normally there is only one particular team that can cope with it.* (Some People are on the Pitch)

* though this season has yet to show any signs of being normal.

Just one of those stuff they don’t teach in the history textbook. :) I’m referring to the first link, Jan. You make this former History student happy with that. :P
