Definitely something to think about, Jan! :) But that was really impressive.

So much for me growing up, I am always excited watching David Copperfield especially when you have all these TV specials during the festive season. :P

So this is what players do with their time off! Two of the best players in the world, reduced to performing magic tricks…sad.

In the US, our athletes use their free time more wisely…committing crimes, paying alimony, getting drunk, fighting lawsuits, shooting limo drivers, etc.

I dug up a post that I did for my blog back in the ‘old’ days (I did things before Bundesliga Talk?) that seems relevant. It was reviewing Bayern’s squad in the wake of their clash with Milan in the CL (04/04/07). It might make more sense if you remember that Van Buyten scored twice (including late) for Bayern that game:

Lucio and Van Buyten are both still top-notch defenders, excepting Lucio’s occasional tendency to play as a forward and Van Buyten’s disappearing acts (the Milan game notwithstanding). That reminds me of an anecdote:
I once saw their magic act in Vegas. Well, to be honest, it was Podolski and Makaay’s magic act. They were going to cut a man in half or something (Lahm possibly being the result of an earlier failed attempt). They were on stage and everyone was waiting for them to do their trick, but they seemed happy just to be up there. We wait, and wait, and wait. It’s been more than an hour and still no trick’s been done. Lucio, who’s been tending the bar in the back with Van Buyten has occasionally gone up on stage just to check and make sure everything’s okay. Finally Van Buyten gets sick of things and rushes up to finish the trick himself. Everyone claps. True story.
