Tourist Attraction of the Day: Kickabouts with Bernd Schneider

This about concludes my Bernd Schneider trilogy for today. It’s a little anecdote I recently picked up. Bernd Schneider went on holiday to Sardinia right after the 2004/2005 season finished. Eight days to relax before he would join the national team again to play in the Confederations Cup. So what did he do there? “I played football every evening,” answered Schneider to the press. And with whom? “With British tourists.” Did they recognise him? “No. But I think they were amazed by what I could do with the ball.” So, the next time you go on holiday and end up playing football on the hotel ground, don’t let this unassuming looking guy to the left fool you.
