The Poor Footballers From Armenia

Bremen beats Armenia

The small country of Armenia is currently ranked 87th in the official FIFA World Ranking. Werder Bremen is still missing 10 players due to various injuries, and their Bundesliga campaign had suffered yet another setback, when Wolfsburg held them to a draw on Tuesday. So this might have been the time for the Armenian national team to take their shot at beating Bremen. But it wasn’t meant to be. Diego lead his team to a 8-1 victory and the Werder Bremen homepage is unsurprisingly overjoyed with the result.

I only know of a European ranking for club teams. The link to Armenia was intentional as the Bundesliga side is called Arminia. :-)

Arminia Bielefeld has nothing to do with Armenia…
Arminia goes back to the historic roots to barbarian “Arminius” who bet the Roman Legion with their leader “Varus” at Teutoburger Forrest and became a legend.

It´s just an mix-up between two words
