Stare Down Contest: Shao Jiayi versus Lukas Podolski
By: Jan | March 21st, 2008Shao Jiayi (Energie Cottbus) and Lukas Podolski (Bayern Munich) started last Saturday’s match from the bench. To waste some time the two spontaneously decided to have a go at each other with a good old stare down contest. Here is how it all played out…
Kick off.

18th minute: goal for Energie Cottbus by Branko Jelic.

29th minute: Ribery misses a penalty.

38th minute: goal for Energie Cottbus. Branko Jelic bags a brace.
A tough moment for Shao.

Half time.

57th minute.

66th minute: Lell (out) - Podolski (in)
68th minute: Jelic (out) - Shao (in)

Final whistle.
All credit to Shao and Podolski for going the whole 90 minutes. The stare down contest ended in a draw, but Shao was the happier man, with Energie Cottbus keeping all three points.

Aaron, thank goodness I am not alone. I thought I’m the only one thinking that way.

I was on tenterhooks till the very end. I predicted bloodshed — I’m only glad it didn’t have to come to that… this time.
