  You know Lyon were interested in Marcell Jansen this past summer when they were looking at every available left back out there. But then we got Grosso. I’m not sure if Lyon lost out or not.

  I don’t know Grosso enough to make a judgement here. Marcell Jansen has a lot of talent, but he will definitely have to fight for his place now that Willy Sagnol is back in the squad.

  Van Bommel looks the way I felt during the game. Atrocious playing. It was embarrassing. And for most of the game, that bench also included Klose and Schweinsteiger.

  Jansen is a good attacking left back. Not as good as Lahm, but more deserving than Lell of a place in the back four.

  Agreed, Juliet — why Hitzfeld left out Jansen and started Lell I’ll never know. Lell is substitution or injury crisis quality for Bayern, nothing more.
