Quote of the Day: If I can make it here…

By: Jan | March 20th, 2008

“If I can make it in the Bundesliga, I can take on the world.” - Makoto Hasebe (VfL Wolfsburg).

Funny how I said the exact same thing to myself, when I started blogging the Bundesliga for The Offside.

    LOL, Jan. :D

Well, for me…I have to continue blog about the Bundesliga on my own blog until the pay-TV network here (*cough*) realises they should show the Bundesliga here because it do throw up surprises now and then. Cottbus beating Bayern just in the previous matchday is already an example itself.

For now…maybe I have to learn to contemplate of maybe to watch the Champions League starting the 2009/10 season. Kind of depressing for me to talk about it here (I was actually looking forward to seeing Juergen Klinsmann on the living room’s TV set…that is if he’s still the Bayern coach then and if Bayern’s in the Champions League). I can’t even believe that the pay-TV network here had lost the rights to show Champions League and UEFA Cup matches from 2009 to 2012. :( The 2008/09 season will be the last time it will be on the pay-TV here (for now). It’s a long story how all these came about.

The Bundesliga has been expanding its reach quite a bit recently, so maybe next season, Singapore will be on board as well.:-)

Yeah, I better hope so. I may need to bet my life on it that it will arrive here. Just kidding. :D I get mildly pissed that our neighbours up north in Malaysia do have Bundesliga coverage. Bayern will be heading to this side of the world after the Bundesliga season ends for their tour of Asia…Indonesia, China and India. Of all those three, Indonesia is the most nearest country to where I live (just down south and to think, they have Bundesliga on TV there, or so I read once). Actually Bayern used to head over here, but I wasn’t born yet at that time. :P In the 70s.

But seriously, it’s not as if there’s not enough for maybe one of those spare channels dedicating to the Bundesliga on the pay-TV. That is, there is a jump in terms of some of the channel numbers when I channel-surfed out of boredom. Not all channel numbers have programmes (and I’m not referring to those channels my family didn’t subscribe to). I don’t mind being on the free-to-air networks either (like the Serie A is already on there). Better still, get more people interested. ;)

*cough cough to the networks here*

Jan, for now, at least I can be content that the Switzerland-Germany friendly will be on the pay-TV here on early Thursday morning (thanks to the time difference…but whether I can drag myself out of bed to watch is another matter :D). :P Most of the time, I can get to watch Germany international matches over here (friendlies or not).

I am very easily contented. ;)
