Photo of the Day: Hoffenheim’s Abramovich

Jochen A. Rotthaus

No, it’s not SAP billionaire and sugar daddy Dietmar Hopp. He hates those comparisons anyway, and will probably sue anyone who still makes them. This is Hoffenheim’s president Jochen A. Rotthaus. He didn’t do any questionable things in post cold war Russia and isn’t rich by billionaire standards, but the similarities are still striking and qualify him as Hoffenheim’s Abramovich. So fans can hate someone other than Hopp for a change.

Now come to think of it, Rotthaus does look a little like Abramovich. I did came across those photos from the match against Frankfurt and didn’t notice at first glance actually. :P

On another note, apart from the weekly highlights show I watch (one-hour long, including the goals and key highlights of each match), I noticed the Bundesliga matches on the pay-TV here so far…none had featured Hoffenheim as yet. Just my observation.
