Newsbits: Bayern on YouTube, Carlos Alberto on Loan to Bremen and Lincoln on the Verge of Leaving Schalke
By: Jan | June 15th, 2007With Uli Honess on vacation there is little relevant transfer talk coming from Bayern, unless you consider the whole Klose soap opera to be relevant of course. But they are on YouTube now, and there are some new developments from their main competitors…
- Bayern Munich is trying to further push and promote their webbased subscription TV service FCB.TV by offering some example videos on their own YouTube channel. So far there are only German language clips available. Although since FCB.TV is also available in English this might change in the future. Click here for the link.
- Werder Bremen is reportedly close to add another Brazlian player to their squad. Attacking midfielder Carlos Alberto could team up with former teammate Diego with whom he played for FC Porto. He already gained some Champions League experience there, well he actually won the competition back in 2004. He is currently playing for Fluminense in Brazil and would join Bremen on a loan deal for one year with the option to buy him afterwards.
- Some bad news for Schalke, which probably could be good news after all: Galatasaray Istanbul is close to sign creative playmaker Lincoln. German coach Karl-Heinz Feldcamp recently took over the Galatasaray job and instantly started raiding Bundesliga clubs for players. Their biggest signing so far could be Schalke’s Lincoln. “He wants to leave Schalke and has send us a signal that he is ready to join us. We have come to an agreement and will work on the details with Schalke in the coming week”, explained Galatasaray’s president Özhan Canaydin. Schalke can expect to receive a transfer fee of around 6 million Euros. This would be a serious blow for the squad since they are currently missing a player who could take over Lincoln’s role. Yet, there is still the possible signing of Stephen Appiah which sporting director Andreas Müller recently declared to be “highly unlikely” based on salary and transfer fee demands. Maybe he changes his mind now. The cheaper alternative would be Eintracht Frankfurt’s Albert Streit who is eager to join Schalke but the two clubs couldn’t agree on the transfer fee yet.
