Angharad: I think Setanta now offers Bundesliga matches in England, so it got better since you left.;-)

Bayern Munich wouldn't be befuddled at the thought of overseas fans at all. They recently announced that 1/3 of the new subscribers to their internet TV service come from outside Germany. But it's just one of the areas where the rest of the league plays catch up with Bayern.

Though, it doesn't mean they can't learn. I recently read a blog by a Japanese Eintracht Frankfurt fan who secured tickets for one of the upcoming Frankfurt home games. She wrote that Frankfurt were quite confused when she first tried to have tickets send to Japan a year ago. Now it all went smooth and the tickets only took a couple of days to arrive in Japan.

Inara: Any chance this comment came from Ray Hudson? :-)

...I'm trying to think of a way to make a penis joke out of that, Inara, (because my sense of humor is stuck in the twelve-years-old range), but unfortunately I can't. :(

Speaking of GolTV, I was watching the Stuttgart-Bayern game, and one of the commentators compared Mario Gomez to a snowball rolling down a snowy hill!

Despite being very fond of several Bayern players (Lahm and Rensing are among my favorites of any team), I don't think I could bring myself to actually become a Bayern _fan_. They really are evil, you know. ;)

It's better than when I lived in England, at least. They don't show any Bundesliga matches at all there. I was completely dependent on the internet.

It is true about Bremen not having terribly many fans in the US -- I just tried to buy a few things from the Werder webshop and they got desperately confused by my shipping address. And I was ordering in German and everything! I get the feeling Bayern would not be so befuddled by the very idea that they have overseas fans. *sighs*

Your best bet would be to become a Bayern fan, then you have guaranteed GolTV coverage.;-) Though, it's not entirely GolTV's fault. Sportscast is a sub-company of the Bundesliga, who produce the TV signal and they also produce four matches with English and Spanish commentary each week. These matches are sold as a package for international distribution. GolTV could still order other matches on top of that, but there probably aren't enough Bremen fans in the US yet.:-)

Though a highlight program plus up to four live matches, plus La Liga is more than you get here, unless you get a pay-tv subscription. So, it's not that bad I would assume.;-)

Thanks so much, Jan. Being stuck in the States and dependent on what GolTV decides to show me in the way of Bundesliga matches makes it difficult to follow my team (which I think can officially be renamed SV Diego by this point). By the way, have I mentioned we have the prettiest socks in the league? We really do.
