101 Great Christmas Gifts: A Valencia Kit for Rafael van der Vaart

By: Jan | December 20th, 2007

Rafael van der Vaart“Wait! He already got one,” some of you may say. The white one, with which he posed this summer to force his transfer.

That’s why his team mates chose Valencia’s orange away kit for his Christmas present instead; complete with his number 23 and the name van der Verrat printed on the back. Verrat is the German word for treason/treachery and the pun van der Verrat was in heavy use by Hamburg fans during the whole transfer saga.

A neat little joke and van der Vaart took it with humour and announced he will keep the shirt. More creative Christmas gift ideas, that leaked from Hamburg’s Christmas party: an alarm clock for Timothy Atouba, who is always late for training and a saltwater nose douche for David Jarolim, who always has a stuffed up nose.
