Franck Ribery bids farewell to Oliver Kahn

By: Jan | May 15th, 2008

I already wondered what had happened to Franck the Prankster, but here he is with his accomplice Daniel van Buyten. The roof of Bayern’s world headquarter + a bucket + Oliver Kahn + a camera filming it = excellent blogging material. I’m sure this will make it all the harder for Ollie to retire.

Update: Because we can’t get enough of it - here is an extended video revealing that Mark van Bommel is another accomplice.

LOL! I have to watch it twice! And laughing non-stop. Franck the Prankster…indeed. :)

‘I’m sure this will make it all the harder for Ollie to retire.’
Yeah. And even Reuters looks back at his career ahead of Bayern’s final match against Hertha - http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=reu-germanykahn_pix&prov=reuters&type=lgns

Sigh. :( I think I will really miss Kahn. It might had been only six years ago I first know of him during the 2002 World Cup and I even watched the final then but, he will be missed. Other than Ballack, Kahn was the other which stands out for me when it comes to the German national team at that time. For some reason, those two names stood out at that time for me.

And though back then Brazil was the favourites to win the trophy (which they eventually did), I was in my usual ‘cheering for the underdog’ mode and went for Germany instead. I always have this habit in football tournaments, unless I have a team to support. Germany may be among the favourites for the upcoming Euro 2008 but imagine, the first time I know about them…they were the underdogs in a tournament. Given I remembered reading at that time that no one had expected Brazil and Germany to be in the final in the beginning.

You know whatever they say about Kahn’s popularity especially in China…I think maybe it has to do with Genghis and Kublai Khan. The story of Marco Polo’s adventures in China, yeah. This is my personal theory. Maybe Ollie kind of resembled like the two (Genghis and Kublai) and probably reminded the Chinese of those two men. Personality and all that. I learned about the story of Marco Polo back in school and knew about the two men as well.

LOLOLOL! I’d been wondering what he’d been up to, too! Good to see he’s still the same lovable scamp. :-)

That’s it. LOL! I can’t stop laughing at the second video as well. Now we know who also has a hand in it. :)
