Scoring early in both halfs spoilt the game as a spectacle and RWE had plenty of chances to equalise in the first half. Indeed, I thought Hamburg's performance was fairly sloppy in the opening. They gave away the ball far too easily and if Essen had not had half their team out injured this would have been a much tougher tie for the Bundesliga side. But don't forget I'm slightly biased :) Hamburg were a little lucky to win in the end even though they did not look as though they stepped out of first gear.

They didn't lose a single game and I'm not even sure they drew one. I hope this good form translates to the Bundesliga, as they are playing two tough matches right at the start.
