Diego wins Goal of the Year 2007 Award

By: Jan | February 2nd, 2008

He has been voted the Bundesliga’s player of the season 2006/2007, he is on a good way to successfully defend his title this year and so it doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, that he now also won the Goal of the Year 2007 award by the German Bundesliga TV show Sportschau. The viewers could chose from 12 goals, which had previously been voted goal of the month. They usually have a soft spot for a good long range effort, but in Diego’s case make that long distance, as they selected his goal from 62,5 meters against Alemannia Aachen to be their goal of the year. To celebrate his award, here is a four minute video of this goal.

My favorite part of that video is the look on Diego’s face when he is talking to Naldo.

“Dude, I can’t believe I just did that.”
    “Dude, me neither.”

Fantastic goal, certainly my favorite from last year. Poor Nicht, I hope he didn’t take it too hard!

Nicht is actually playing in Norway now - for Viking FK. But probably a move unrelated to Diego’s goal.:-)
