I would have to say that some of the most interesting stories are coming out of the 2. Liga. I can't decide if that's a good or a bad thing. Maybe I'm just someone who doesn't view the current hot potato game for the Champions League spots as interesting. Because mostly, it has been a result of good teams playing poorly, rather than flawed teams digging deeper to find something. As exciting as Stuttgart's run up the table has been, they are pretty much where they ought to have been all along. As for the 2.Liga, the Kaiserslautern-Hoffenheim match could be viewed through several prisms, perhaps as the torch being passed, or more cynically, as the triumph of the almighty dollar over traditional power. I'm no fan of Kaiserslautern, but I sure don't want to see them make history as an inaugural member of the 3. Liga either. Based on their schedule, I'm not declaring them DOA, but the heart-lung machine is operating at this point. The prospect of Greuther Fürth coming up, and passing Der Club as they head the other direction is another. What is a fair weather football fan in Nürnberg to do? What could a point here or there mean or not mean for the future of Jürgen Klopp? Zoom in on Jena to find 3 straight wins; they finally are figuring out how to win non-Pokal matches and letting a sliver of light into the gloomy frame...and coming up Monday, an absolutely huge match for Köln against Gladbach, perhaps the night we find out whether they are truly contenders or pretenders.
