Since it's all about the Olympics at the moment, I actually stumbled upon something interesting on Bild.de. A Chinese language page for the Olympics. :)

http://www.bild.de/BILD/news/china/home/olympia-beijing-2008.html (there are English-language videos over there as well)

It's my second language, or we actually call it 'mother tongue' here given English is my first language. My Chinese is actually a little rusty (written-wise but I still remember how to write my Chinese name) since the last time I actually wrote something in Chinese was ages ago. But when I saw Bild's Chinese site, it made me surprised. Useless triva...I actually speak more Chinese than English in daily life. :P

Oh yes. My father and I were watching one of the swimming heats yesterday and he noticed that the German participant on his jacket has the Chinese equivalent of Germany. Wikipedia has a section of how the Chinese equivalent came about - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Names_for_Germany#Chinese_and_Vietnamese

It confirmed what I secretly guessed all along on how the Chinese equivalent came about. ;)

Schalke want them to pay the insurance in case Rafinha gets injured or something like that. The Brazilian FA haven't answered to Schalke so they're taking it to court now it seems.

I guess the Brazilian FA tried to sit out the issue, as other clubs could ask the same favor of the Brazilian FA, now that the CAS ruled that clubs don't have to release their players.

Typo error in my previous comment. So apparently according to Schalke general manager Andreas Muller over the case of Rafinha being in China (quoting from the link), the Brazilian Football Association (CFB) quickly created "the conditions for his involvement".

Any idea what is going on over there, Jan?

Angela, aha. :)

'Replace Diego with Rafinha and then our new Schalke blogger Jon basically did what Brian did.'
Looks like the whole club-versus-controversy saga has not really ended yet, Jan. Not sure if you know about this piece of news I found on the TeamTalk website. Concerning both Schalke and Hertha Berlin.

And I thought the whole saga had made me all tired and weary. And I also thought Schalke had made some compromises with the Brazilian FA over the case of Rafinha (I mean, I even read that Werder Bremen and them making compromises over their players in the papers here ahead of the Olympics). Or maybe, this is only my wild guess...Brazil is already through to the quarter-finals of the men's Olympic football tournament with a match to spare (host nation China is next for them).

Here we go again...
