Bundesliga 2007/2008: All Jerseys and Sponsors
By: Jan | August 3rd, 2007I’ve tried to compile all the jerseys of all current Bundesliga clubs, so that we can judge, whether teams that are bound to play crap and go through a disappointing season at least die in beauty - or the other way round. I consider my work to be complete, except for a few away jerseys I was too lazy to hunt down.
For all of you numbers freaks, I also compiled the revenue these clubs generate with their sponsorship deals. Because that’s something the Bundesliga is really good at - constantly cashing in the most money of all European leagues; e.g. twice as much as Serie A. The current count is at around €94m, but with Leverkusen still without a sponsor, that figure should rise above €100m to set a new Bundesliga record. Some deals include bonus payments if the club is successful enough. I put these numbers, if available, in brackets (Sources: 1 2).
And now happy scrolling. I hope you have a mouse wheel and not one of those crappy minimalist one button Apple design objects that I’m navigating.

Energie Cottbus may be one of the greatest names for a club ever. It sounds like a cute German cartoon about a chubby public transportation misfit who sputters around town, greeting all of his passengers with a lovable grin and going on misadventures with other buses, taxi cabs and limousines.

Hopefully the new logo RAG have come up with for this year won’t be ugly looking. Oh, and I really like Hamburg’s new jerseys. Good stuff from them.
And what’s up with Wolfsburg’s away? I wasn’t aware they all of a sudden became Inter Milan!

More teams should be sponsored by Mister Lady.

Great work Jan. Bremen still rule the Bundesliga kit wars in my mind.

Steven: I agree, I think Dortmund had some tough luck with sponsor logos last year. Or did you like that exclamation mark thing? And Hamburg’s new jerseys are my favourites as well!
JT: It somehow doesn’t surprise me that you like Werder Bremen’s green outfits.

Steven: Oh, missed your Wolfsburg remark. Well, Wolfsburg are eager to play with the big boys in the league now, so probably their new shirts are intended to reflect that. If it wasn’t for that VW logo which looks a bit wrong, I would even like those shirts.

Good work getting all these together. Arminia’s look decent. And yeah, Wolfsburg, that’s pretty lame.

Ha ha, that’s true Jan. Never even thought about it. Werder is my Bundesliga club since Klasnic helped get Celtic’s sister club St. Pauli get promoted a few years back. And because Thomas Schaaf is the man.

Oh cool, kudos for taking that fanfriendship with St. Pauli serious! I plan to blog a bit more about the second Bundesliga this season so I will definitely also cover St. Pauli there. Probably one of the coolest football clubs in Germany.

Hi Jan - this post is very impressive…where exactly did you get all these sponsorship revenue figures from, especially for the smaller clubs????

Hi Troy. The numbers have been compiled from two sources which I’ve linked to at the beginning of the post.
The Deutsche Presse Agenture (dpa) released estimates which where published by several websites. Analysts IFM Medienanalysen also released estimates published online by the newspaper Rheinische Post.
