Steven: can’t wait for this tournament either. It has been a more or less meaningless pre-season competition so far, but interest has risen quite a bit. I was thinking about getting tickets for the double-feature matches in Düsseldorf. Last season they only sold 23000 tickets; less than half of our stadium’s +50000 capacity. But I underestimated demand this time. The two matches are sold out.

I don’t like that Nilmar rumour either. And today’s news actually says that MSI is causing some trouble again by supposedly bumping the transfer fee in a last minute attempt by another million Euros…

I love Frings. He’s like the Michael Moore of football.

Umm, about Nilmar….for Bremen’s sake, you don’t want to go there. His contract situation still hasn’t been resolved, so should Werder try to buy him, it’s unclear who would be selling him – MSI, Corinthians, or Lyon. Plus he’s had a year and a half of bad knee injuries, and if the rumors are true, a dishonest player (though I really hope they aren’t).

Conversely, I’ve always thought Baros would fit into the Bundesliga, but he just got to Lyon, so I don’t blame him for wanting to try to make a dent into the side.
