Quote of the Day: Uli Hoeneß takes on the Oil Mafia
By: Jan | August 7th, 2008SPOX: What bothers you?
Hoeneß: I’m bothered when I drive to a petrol station once a week. This oil mafia squeezes money out of my pockets to invest it in football players. This stinks to the high heavens, and this is also true for Mr. Abramovich.
SPOX: The Chelsea-boss is probably not your best friend.
Hoeneß: No. This mafia rules the whole world and manipulates the oil price. I won’t take that any longer.
SPOX: What do you want to do about it?
Hoeneß: We have to beat clubs like Chelsea on the pitch. That would be gratifying.
Bayern Munich’s general manager Uli Hoeneß in an interview with Spox.

Look what you had started, Jan.
It has started to be reported at some places already. I was flipping through the teletext on the television here and it quoted what you posted here. Goal.com already has a report of it.

Ugh, my translation isn’t perfect but still way better than what AFP come up with. Some parts are even plain wrong.
