Yup, you just need to look at teams in the second and third division to find plenty of mismanaged clubs. Kaiserslautern is a really sad case though. This team has enough quality for the second division, but by now there's just so much psychological baggage they are carrying around, and the chaotic management (the whole Toppmöller episode) doesn't help either. But it's "good' for the new third Bundesliga that'll be launched next season. Kaiserslautern will at least help make this league more attractive. Unless they are bankrupt by then.

Juliet: Might Kaiserslautern be right there in the running as far as mismanagement? This is a team that continues to maintain an international following, not only from emigres, but American military personnel who were introduced to football by there--and yet it seems there is little hope to save them from the drop in the 2 Liga. All this after selling off the two best German players of the era, though I know this last point is arguable!

All excellent lessons... particularly regarding Slomka. I haven't been watching Bundesliga long enough to discern Slomka's effect on Schalke.

I guess it's indicative of the effect money has on the game that Dortmund could win the Champion's League in 1997 and be briefly threatened by relegation in 2007. :/ (although I think no one has mismanaged themselves more than poor Leeds)

I'll take this early-season high if it'll get us comfortably mid-table. Which it should. I have faith it'll all come together eventually...

Among the German football terms I had learned since starting to follow the Bundesliga, Sturm was among those which stands out for me for some reason. Guess whatever it's being said that you learn something new each day is true. So now I also know storm translates into Sturm as well. :)

Oh yeah Jan, Markus Merk (who refereed the Werder Bremen-Borussia Dortmund match) had realised his mistake in regards to Rosenberg's first goal after he saw the replay from the stadium's video screen. And now Merk is asking for video replays, so that such incidents like the match he refereed last weekend will not happen again - http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=608986 No wonder when I was looking at the video you posted here Jan, Thomas Doll was so pissed that it was allowed.
