Bekim Kastrati - Fractured Testicle

Bekim Kastrati is a striker for third division side Fortuna Düsseldorf and plays for the Albanian national team. Fortuna are currently ranked 6th in the league, with a fair chance to win promotion to the second Bundesliga. Bekim Kastrati has managed to score two goals so far in this campaign. A week ago Fortuna hosted the SWD Wintercup, inviting Bundesliga sides Bremen, Dortmund and Leverkusen over for a short one-day tournament. And Fortuna actually won it, beating Dortmund 1-0 in the final. The winning goal was scored by Kastrati. A few days later, Fortuna played a friendly against Bayern Munich. Bayern won 3-2, thanks to goals by Jan Schlaudraff and Luca Toni. Kastrati had a chance to equalise in the 89th minute, but he unfortunately crashed into Bayern’s third choice keeper Bernd Dreher. It was this incident where he suffered a fractured testicle and had to be brought to a hospital to undergo an emergency operation. Let’s hope for a speedy and full recovery.

The goals for Fortuna were scored by Erwig and de Cock, in case you wondered.

No way do they have players named Kastrati and de Cock on the same team. It’s too perfect!

Nah, this is one of those rare moments where simply everything is coming together at the right place and time. I didn’t need to make up a single detail. :-)
