mean·ing·less (mē´nĭng-lĭs) friend·ly (frĕnd´lē)

Germany

  • Defence: Marcell Jansen (injured), Clemens Fritz (injured)
  • Midfield: Michael Ballack (injured), Torsten Frings (injured), Tim Borowski (injured), Bastian Schweinsteiger (injured), Sebastian Kehl (injured), Sami Khedira (injured)
  • Attack: Miroslav Klose (injured), Lukas Podolski (injured), Mario Gomez (injured), Jan Schlaudraff (injured)

England

  • Defence: Gary Neville (injured), Ledley King (injured), Jonathan Woodgate (injured), Sol Campbell (injured)
  • Midfield: Steven Gerrard (injured), Owen Hargreaves (injured)
  • Attack: Wayne Rooney (injured), Darren Bent (injured), Andrew Johnson (injured)

I guess this gives both teams a proper excuse should they lose the friendly on Wednesday. I was originally really looking forward to this one. Now, I’m more curious than excited.

It would be brilliant if Jens fucked up again. Especially after that rant he had about England sucking.

TBH: I think there are two or three German keepers who are better than Jens. His only advantage is, that Jogi gave him a starting XI guarantee after the World Cup. The only way for another keeper to claim his place would be, if Arsene Wenger puts him on the bench at Arsenal.

BTW: What did he say about England sucking? And then again, isn’t that the truth? ;-)

I think it’s time for Jens to hand the gloves over to Timo.

I would normally agree. Just that once Jens hands them over to Timo, Timo himself would have to hand them over to Neuer or Enke atm. At least as long as he is busy looking after Valencia’s bench and not their goal.

Sigh. I had high hopes for this match, but now not so much. I guess we can take it as an examination of the depth of the each country’s talent and Loew vs McClaren’s tactics. And that will be… something.

Thierry: Yeah, I was actually thinking whether I should include him or not when I wrote the post. :-)
