You can use italics. Put angle brackets (chevrons) around the letter i, write the word to appear in italics and then put those brackets around /i again to close the command.

Lahm is just one of those Footballers, (wish I could format that into italic) he really understands the game and has the athleticism and skill to make use of his intelligence. My favourite player in a fit squad, along with Klose.

When he took the captain's armband I first thought he might even be a bit overwhelmed by the gesture, but now that I saw the footage again, he was just a bit exhausted.

Ha! England always brings a B team, so why should last night have been any different? ;-)

But seriously, I know there was lots said about how they were both bringing B teams, but England still had Lampard, Owen, Crouch, Beckham, etc. Germany had most of their defense...and that was it. For the first 20 minutes, I thought Jogi had lost his mind. And then, crazy B team or no, it all started working. Teamgeist.

Who would've guessed the small, hard-working Lahm could drop into the hole? He's my man of the match. Captaining the team for a few minutes seems a just reward.

You're right. I just read some articles about the match and the one from the Daily Mail points out:
"In a crowd of 86,000, the Germans even won the singing."

So it didn't just appear to be like that on TV.

I've noticed that chants issue as well. Possibly the German fans were a little more proactive. You could easily hear the English chants at some points of time but they just didn't sing that often, seemingly. Maybe because the English game was one-dimensional and pretty bad at times.
