Snapshot: Footballers who look like Hitler

By: Jan | Comments 5 Comments

Here are Borussia Mönchengladbach wunderkind Marko Marin and Canadian striker Rob Friend sporting fake moustaches, in honour of their Dutch coach Jos Luhukay, who likes to wear his facial hair this way and who guided Gladbach back to the Bundesliga.

Snapshot: Two-in-One

I have the rare honour to spell the names Valeri Domovchiyski and Lukas Sinkiewicz in the same sentence. Valeri plays for Hertha and Lukas plays for Leverkusen. The two played against each other on Wednesday. Hertha ended up putting more misery on Leverkusen and more pressure on Michael Skibbe, as they won the match 2-1.

Snapshot: Say it with Flowers / Say it with Showers

Kudos to Wolfsburg for the idea. Presenting a bouquet of flowers to beer showered footballers makes a great picture.
Not to take anything away from the aforementioned beer showers…

Snapshot: Achtung! Surrender. For you Fritz, the UEFA Cup 2008 is over.

By: Jan | Comments 4 Comments

A welcome message to the Bayern players in German: “We don’t wait for May 9th. The surrender has to happen today.” The UEFA had the banners removed before the game kicked off. So Bayern can’t argue that they just followed orders. But the Zenit fans got what they asked for nonetheless.
File under: yawn.

Snapshot: Luca Toni Impersonator

By: Jan | Comments 1 Comment

Franck Ribery put on his best Luca Toni impression on Sunday against Stuttgart and most of it was spot on. He bagged a brace - one of Luca Toni’s latest habits. He emulated Luca’s avete capito (”Do you get it?”) goal celebration - pretending to unscrew his ear. His goals should have been a bit […]

Uncanny Resemblance: Jogi Löw and Tom Cruise

By: Jan | Comments 7 Comments

Jogi Löw attended the match between Karlsruhe and Bremen disguising as Tom Cruise. What is even more worrying than that, is the current form of most of his designated Euro 2008 players. Per Mertesacker is probably playing his worst ever season. Torsten Frings was injured again. Bernd Schneider will most probably miss the Euros due […]

Wahiba and Franck Ribery with their new arrival. Delivery took a bit longer than originally expected, but all went well in the end. They named it DFB Pokal; 52 cm in height and weighs 5,7 kg (1,7 feet and 12,5 pounds).
Congratulations.

Snapshot: The Objectophile

By: Jan | Comments 5 Comments

After scoring four goals (a career first) in Schalke’s 5-0 thrashing of poor Energie Cottbus, Kevin Kuranyi could no longer suppress his feelings. He officially outed himself as an objectophile. What is less surprising is the fact that his crush is a TV camera.
