Artifacts from the 90s: Ugly Borussia Dortmund Kits

Borussia Dortmund Kits

From left to right: Season 1991/1992, Season 1992/1993 and Season 1993/1994. In 1992 Dortmund finished second behind Stuttgart, followed by two fourth place finishes. In 1995 Dortmund finally won the Bundesliga, repeated this feat in 1996 and added the Champions League title one year later. In 1991 Ottmar Hitzfeld took charge as coach and in 1997 he resigned. Six happy years to be a Dortmund fan – not just for the kits.

You sure that isn’t the current Chelsea kit?

I thought you might enjoy this picture I came across today. I posted it on the Barca blog as well.

Basically, during the WC, Rijkaard and Voller came up against each other, and Rijkaard not only spat at Voller but also had him sent off, and then spat at him again as Voller was leaving the pitch!

Gotta love the good old days!

Thanks Inara. A famous scene and integral part of the Dutch-German football rivalry. :-)

Indeed, a defining moment in European international football. In England Italia 90 is a toss up between Gazza’s tears and Frank’s flob. Personally, I go for the latter.
