Snapshot: Footballers who look like Hitler
By: Jan | May 12th, 2008
Here are Borussia Mönchengladbach wunderkind Marko Marin and Canadian striker Rob Friend sporting fake moustaches, in honour of their Dutch coach Jos Luhukay, who likes to wear his facial hair this way and who guided Gladbach back to the Bundesliga.

Good that Gladbach will be back next season. I had always missed their jerseys for some reason.
Also on the same topic of promotion, Jan, congrats to Cologne coming back to the Bundesliga.

Is that kid really that much shorter than his teammate??

Yes, and that kid makes the most of his small stature. He has a great technique and could follow in Hässler’s/Littbarski’s footsteps in the German national team.

This could only happen in the Bundesliga. Or maybe it’s just that it would only appear this bizarre in the Bundesliga.

It’s probably a mix of both. Though, I could have gone with “Footballers who look like Charlie Chaplin” but thought the other moustache man would attract more attention.:-)

Whoa — I take it back! I just watched the highlights of Marin’s first match against Kaiserslautern and now I see what you’re talking about. I hope he answers the call from Loew in a couple of years. In the meantime, it’ll be fun watching him in the Bundesliga next year.

Kudos Juliet for doing your own YouTube research.
I plan to blog about him soon as well.Posted from

Juliet, Marin is in the provisional 26-man squad. Loew has given him an early call!

‘I plan to blog about him soon as well.’
I will be waiting for the post, Jan.
This entry of yours is actually the first place I know of Marin and I hope to know more about the wunderkind (as you call him).Posted from

Nice! I was just about to ask for a Marin post, now that he’s been called. His talent is thrilling. I’ve watched all the available YouTube videos, so I hope you can find more.
