Dortmund fans celebrate winning the 2011 German Championship (”Deutscher Meister 2011″) with a massive choreo. Frankfurt fans celebrate winning the self-awarded and newly invented 2011 German Riot Championship (”Deutscher Randalemeister 2011″) without a choreo but some flares and a banner. Both of them deserving champions. Dortmund for being the best team playing the best football. Frankfurt’s Ultras for last week’s pitch invasion followed by random rioting.
It’s all a bit odd and annoying that those fans who distance themselves from glory hunters and event fans, by claiming to go through thick and thin with their club no matter what division, are actually the ones who can’t take the prospect of getting relegated. And that’s what eventually happened after Dortmund beat Frankfurt 3-1. Even though there was a glimmer of hope for Frankfurt halfway through the matchday.
